      Award: Editor's Choice!

Pros: Consistently fast task speeds ; great print/scan quality ; expandable paper handling and memory ; onboard PictBridge port ; ADF ; network-ready ; Brother ControlCenter is flexible and customizable ; security feature is great for a multiuser environment

Cons: No junk fax blocker ; no auto duplexer ; walk-up scanning options are a bit limited ; color printing could use a tiny bit of improvement

Verdict: Our quibbles with the Brother MFC-9440CN pale in comparison to the many things we like about it, chiefly its sublime combination of fast speeds with high-quality output. It's currently our favorite recommendation for a small office environment.

      Brother MFC-9420CN

      By Melissa Riofrio (PC World)

Pros: Fast performance, crisp text output

Cons: Bulky design, hard to set up

Verdict: The Brother MFC-9420CN offers most of the functions you'd want in an all-in-one, but its design often gets in the way. We'd trade some of its admirable speed for better print quality and ease of use.

      Brother MFC-9420CN (3mice)

      By Melissa Riofrio

Review summary: The Brother MFC-9420CN offers most of the functions you'd want in an all-in-one, but its design often gets in the way. We'd trade some of its admirable speed for better print quality and ease of use.

Pros: Fast ; copious fax features ; includes automatic document feeder

Cons: Confusing control panel ; mediocre quality printing graphics ; potentially annoying network software ; no duplex capability ; inadequate documentation

Verdict: Smaller offices, take note: the MFC-9420CN cannot be tucked discreetly into a corner. It's big, heavy (76.7 pounds), and loud, emitting distinct clunking noises during power-up and printing. You'll need nearly three feet of height clearance to raise ...

      Product Reviews: Brother MFC-9420CN

      By Jason Saundalkar

Review summary: As far as performance is concerned, this Brother is no slouch. It managed the fastest results in our text and images colour PDF test and our standard 20-page colour document exam. The only MFD to eclipse it was Epson's CX11NF (also reviewed on ITP.net ...

Verdict: This Brother offers decent print quality, speed and ease-of-use, all at a very aggressive price. What more could you possibly want?
