NAD C372 Integrated Amplifier and Paradigm Studio 20 v.4 Loudspeaker

      By Wayne Garcia

Review summary: The $999 C372 is the most powerful integrated amplifier in NAD's "Hi- Fi" Series, and as with every NAD amp built from Day One, the C372's power capabilities are conservatively rated. Though it is spec'd to deliver 150Wpc continuously into 8 ohms, ...

Verdict: NAD and Paradigm have built long and solid reputations by giving music lovers excellent sound for very reasonable prices. In an era when the finest audio equipment-and pretty much anything else-is pricing itself increasingly out of reach, it's ...

      NAD C372

Review summary: It's certainly a fearsome amount of amplifier for the money. The power rating of 170 watts per channel puts it among the meatiest of integrated amps, even in these power-hungry times, and internal inspection suggests that it's no idle boast.

Pros: Good price, Attractive design, Good connections, Powerfully loud, Even tonal balance, Strong bass

Cons: Needs to be carefully set up, Iris system too aggressive, Lacks subtlety, Lacks fine sound detail

Verdict: A meaty powerhouse of an amp, which lacks some fine musical detail and seems a little congested when compared with the best of its peers. For many, though, its great fun factor will be ample compensation.

      NAD C372

      By Richard Black

Review summary: NAD is a name that has long been a byword for good budget hi-fi. The brand's fortunes were established with the famous (in some circles, notorious) 3020 amplifier in the early 1980s, which if not a truly spectacular audiophile statement certainly did ...

Pros: : Very well specified with vast power reserves but also considerable subtlety and refinement when needed

Cons: Not always completely in control, but that's a minor quibble at this price

Verdict: All else isn't quite equal though, because this unit also, amazingly, offers more of most other kinds of features than you'll typically find at the price. Seven inputs (all line level, so if you want to listen to LPs you'll need an external amplifier ...

      NAD C372

      By Brent Burmester

Review summary: April 2004 NAD C 372 Stereo Integrated Amplifier. $1999 Back in the '80s, NAD made its name on the back of budget amplifiers like the legendary 3020. They were scrawny, cost pocket money, and weren't terribly well put together, but they sounded miles ...

Verdict: It may not be flash, but you can't overlook the features on this machine. Besides the system remote, you get seven line inputs, two sets of speaker terminals, two pre-outs (one with variable gain), headphone socket and tone controls. The last are a ...
