JVC GZ-MG36
Review summary: The MG36 is a solid-looking cam of the Everio range
Pros: Fantastic pictures in good, natural light, Impressive manual options
Cons: Poor low-light performance

SimplyDV Review: JVC Everio GZ-MG36 HDD camcorder
By Colin Barrett
Pros: Great handling, LCD screen mounted joystick control is a plus, widescreen recording is a good feature (although not "real" 16:9) and good connectivity via USB 2.0 with PCs and Macs via supplied software application bundle. 32x zoom also a nice touch.
Cons: Images from single 1/6th inch CCD aren't that good in lower light or with fast moving objects in frame. Can't see why 800x digital zoom is included as a feature, though.
Verdict: Compared to several recent single CCD MiniDV camcorders, the GZ--MG36 produces very reasonable images and sound for the spec and price. However, its single CCD could let it down in some situations. Great for casual-use home video newbies, all the same.
