      JVC Everio GZ-MS100

      Review summary: . Why? Because more than representing a simple distribution model, these days the moniker has come to represent just plain crappy video quality.

      Pros: 35x optical zoom brings the action right to your doorstep. Superb video quality. Formula 1 start-up speed. Easy to use laser touch LCD.

      Cons: No optical image stabilization. Lack of Mac compatibility is inexcusable and utterly perplexing. Three hundred and fifty bones for a camera that's made to record for YouTube? The Flip Mino does the same thing for about half the cost.

      A camcorder for YouTube

      Review summary: The compact and feature-packed Everio GZ-MS100 makes it easy to upload videos online.

      Pros: Comfortable grip ; decent video quality ; uses SD card for storage, 35x optical zoom

      Cons: Poor still image quality ; navigation buttons could be better

      Verdict: These issues aside, the camcorder was fun to use and the videos turned out good overall.
