      Sony BDP-S360

Review summary: The Sony BDP-S360 is a profile 2.0 Blu-ray player. It plays all flavours of Blu-ray disc, most types of DVD and audio CD. It upscales to 1080p. Connection-wise it has HDMI, component and composite video outputs, with digital audio fed through coaxial ...

Pros: Sony put in some long, tough years getting Blu-ray into the mainstream – and now it's reaping the rewards. The S360 is smaller (12%), more power efficient (15%) and cheaper (25%) than its S350 predecessor. To that, we'd like to add a made-up adjective ...

Cons: At this price? Absolutely nothing. The S360 isn't as bulletproof as some pricier models and you can't eject a disc using the remote. But don't let that worry you – the exercise from standing up and walking over to the player will keep you fit and trim ...

Verdict: In these uncertain times and with 3D Blu-ray systems on the (distant) horizon, there simply isn't any reason to spend more than this on a daily BD player. Good clean fun.

      Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player

      By James Morris

Review summary: Sony's BDP-S300 series of Blu-ray players have been showing that great image quality can still be had on a budget for some years now. The BDP-S350 launched in 2008 was a particular highlight. Now the S360 updates the range, including a host of new ...

Pros: Another budget player which punches above its price for image quality

Cons: No wi-fi, no built in memory, no 7.1 analog outputs, USB connectivity only for BD-Live

      Sony BDP-S360 review

      By Daniel Phillips

Review summary: With the Blu-ray-equipped PS3 Slim hogging the limelight, it's easy to forget that Sony also does a rather tasty line in dedicated Blu-ray players. Its entry-level BDP-S360 is an affordably priced effort that lacks bells and whistles but offers a ...

Pros: Solid picture quality and BD Live support for a minimal outlay

Cons: Lacks features found on similarly priced rivals

Verdict: A great-value player that makes up in picture quality and user-friendliness what it lacks in cutting-edge features
