      Panasonic DMR-EX75

      By Richard Arrowsmith

Review summary: The 160GB hard drive, which gives you around 70 hours in the standard SP mode rising to 284 using the lowest quality mode, is distinctly smaller than the LG and Hitachi models. But, unless you intend archiving everything you ever recorded the ...

Pros: Feature filled ; complete connectivity ; ease of use ; excellent recordings using all quality modes

      Cons: Comparatively poor build quality

      Panasonic DMR-EX75

Review summary: Instantly setting out its stall, the DMR-EX75 offers upscaling via an HDMI output, up to 720p or 1080i resolution and then fills out one of the most impressive CVs we've seen. As well as the HDMI output, this deck has comprehensive socketry

Pros: Comprehensive sockets and good-sized hard drive

      Cons: Doesn't handle upscaling well

Verdict: A real all-round performer, this recorder is well worth considering

      Panasonic DMR-EX75

      By Richard Arrowsmith

Review summary: Panasonic's DMR-EX75 is a hybrid recorder with an impressive specification and superb functionality. Recordings using either the 160GB hard drive or universal disc formats offer flexible control. And both recording and playback performance is excellent

Pros: Recording flexibility ; universal compatibility ; slimline design ; ease of use ; recording and playback performance

Cons: Only one Freeview TV tuner, so you can't record and watch different channels

    Comprehensive machine, huge disk drive

    Panasonic DMR-EX75 By E Lawrence (01/03/2007)
    • Pros: Will play & record onto pretty much all formats; massive disk drive
    • Cons: Multi-region version doesn't have auto-select picture output

I got the multi-region version of this and it is an absolute gem. The TV guide is easy to navigate and you can set up several "profiles" and switch between them - this way you can channel hop only through those channels in which you are interested.

The hard disk drive has more space than I'll ever use and it is easy to program recordings straight from the TV guide.

The multi-reg... Read Full Review »

    Panasonic DMR-EX75

Panasonic DMR-EX75 By colin young (16/01/2007)
    • Pros: Handles all types of DVD. Very easy to programme auto record
    • Cons: Still quite expensive. Seems to have gone up in price!

I've used one of these for my work since October 2006 and it is a marvellous all rounder of a recorder. Very easy to set up. Fantastic editing and copying onto disc in hard drive mode. Quite complex for the more advanced functions, and I agree with another reviewer, the manual is not clearly laid out at all. So far much more reliable than any PC software I have used. Welcome to the new age!!

    Panasonic DMR-EX75 By Anonymous (12/01/2007)
    • Pros: If you have the money, BUY IT, excellent machine
    • Cons: If I had to pick one, it is having one tuner, but so did my VCR !!!

I bought this gem just over a week ago, and I am bowled over. Excellent picture, easy remote which can control basic functions on any make of TV. I found setting it up and following the manual extremely easy, and English is not my first language!! So for anyone who can read and understand english, there should be no problems with a very logical and comprehensive instruction manual.

Superb DVD recorder, shame about the manual

    Panasonic DMR-EX75 By Anonymous (26/11/2006)
    • Pros: Lots of features, easy to use (once you've mastered it)
    • Cons: Extremely comprehensive but virtually incomprehensible manual

This recorder had everything I needed; medium-sized HDD, built-in digital tuner, HDMI interface and multi-region capability. However, the manual is awful! It has taken me about three weeks to learn it's capabilities. Rather than "If you want to record a TV program to the hard drive, see page 23" or "If you want to copy from the hard drive to a DVD, see page 35", it explains... Read Full Review »
