Superb DVD recorder, shame about the manual

By Anonymous (26/11/2006)
  • Pros: Lots of features, easy to use (once you've mastered it)
  • Cons: Extremely comprehensive but virtually incomprehensible manual

This recorder had everything I needed; medium-sized HDD, built-in digital tuner, HDMI interface and multi-region capability. However, the manual is awful! It has taken me about three weeks to learn it's capabilities. Rather than "If you want to record a TV program to the hard drive, see page 23" or "If you want to copy from the hard drive to a DVD, see page 35", it explains all of the functions of the unit one by one. So you are skipping back and forth through the manual trying to follow a sequence of actions. Panasonic should provide a set of book marks; you'll need them. That aside, I think it's a great recorder and is worth the effort in mastering it.
