    • Pros: Ease of use: recording, dubbing, playing, editing
    • Cons: For me, only improvement would be a second tuner.

What a superb piece of kit. I spent ages deciding which DVD/HDD recorder to buy and am certain I couldn't do better. It is SO easy to use - even my wife can use it! Having the integral Freeview box makes it extra-easy. As well as watching something that's still recording, you can watch something you've recorded already while you're recording something else. Dubbing to DVD is e... Read Full Review »

    Excellent machine

    • Pros: intregration between freeview and recording
    • Cons: unable to store full tv programme detail (just title) when recorded

This is an excellent dvd recorder. Usually when I buy something there is usually a problem which had left me regretting getting it. This dvd recorder - I have no such regrets. (apart from scambled freeview - (uk gold) - where there is no card slot for top-up tv.)

The tv programme guide is great - just point and click (there is no search facility - unlike XP media center).

The hard drive is a tad... Read Full Review »

    Sony RDR-HX710

Compare Prices : Compare Prices : Sony RDR-HX710 By Anonymous (15/10/2005)
    • Pros: Built in freeview tuner, large storage capacity
    • Cons: Sliding panel on the remote control probably won't last long

A feature packed high quality unit. Shop around, the standard package isn't multi region though several vendors offer this modification for little to no extra charge. It took me a while to work out how to view Sky programs through the dvd recorder (as opposed to using the inbuilt freeview tuner), but that proved to be operator error on my part. It turns out that while most of the buttons are disp... Read Full Review »
