Navman iCN 550 with Traffic
By Sandra Vogel
Review summary: The Navman iCN 550 GPS navigation device is bulky and could do with fewer wires. Still, it works well and the add-on Traffic Module is superb value for money.
Pros: Excellent user interface, maps of a large number of European countries pre-installed, lifetime traffic information for UK, Germany and France for a one-off fee at purchase
Cons: Four-digit postcode navigation only, traffic incidents not shown in 3G navigation view, more cables than we would like, device is a bit bulky
Verdict: The Navman iCN 550 GPS navigation device is bulky and could do with fewer wires. Still, it works well and the add-on Traffic Module is superb value for money

Navman iCN550
By Chris Price
Review summary: Stand-alone GPS sat nav technology that could put an end to queueing in traffic.
Pros: Unlike rival systems which require a Bluetooth connection via a GPRS-enabled mobile phone to receive traffic data, the great thing about the Navman iCN550 is that you don't require any additional hardware.
Cons: On a four and a half mile journey from Islington to East Finchley on a busy weekday afternoon the Navman unit achieved mixed results.

My house 1s 156 years old and according to this GPS it doesn't exist. Within a month of buying (Feb 2006)the battery failed. It is very difficult to get the unit in and out of the screen mount. Nine...

Navman iCN 550
By Philip Smith (15/05/2006)
- Pros: Accurate, comprehensive mapping. Easy to use.
- Cons: Traffic module an eyesore and not very good.
I already own a Navman iCN635 and I have now acquired a NAVMAN 550TM (£399 from Comet) which comes with street lavel maps of all Western Europe on a hard disk. Build quality not quite as good as the 635 (made in china whereas 635 made in NZ), rattles slightly - probably the hard disk housing but has an internal rechargeable battery which lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours. One minor problem (on both model...
