      NETGEAR SPH200D

      Pros: Doesn't require a PC, telephone book for Skype and landline contacts, decent call quality

      Cons: Design, controls, slow user interface, no handset locator on charging cradle

      Verdict: The SPH200D is convenient if you are a regular Skype user, and is only hindered by a bland design and a slow user interface.

      Pros: Makes Skype calls away from the PC, simple setup, good voice quality

      Cons: Price, huge range of hugely annoying ring tones

      Verdict: At last, a handset for using Skype away from the PC that doesn't feel and sound like a toy!

      Netgear SPH200D Dual-Mode Phone

      Review summary: Voice over IP (VoIP) service Skype works very well for making free or cheap calls from your PC, but if you're really into chatting, you're probably going to want a handset to talk into.

      Verdict: Skype addicts, especially those who also like to have a standard phone and don't already have the equipment for a separate Wi-Fi model, are likely to get the most out of this product.
