Superb value! Great wide-screen TV set & LCD PC monitor.

  • Pros: Fantastic price for a widescreen LCD TV and PC monitor.
  • Cons: You may need to upgrade your software to use PC monitor in widescreen.

I picked up one of these in the Winter sale at Euronics for a fantastic £199.99!

Absolutely no problem setting this up as a TV, although I needed to tweak the video settings on my PC to get it to work correctly in wide-screen mode. In fairness though, this is more a problem with the PC and not the TV.

No evidence of a single dead pixel on my unit (view the TV in AV mode or PC mode without any active input i.e. a black screen, to look for the odd pixel that glows through the black).

The sound isn't perhaps quite as bassy as an old-style CRT TV, this is due to the slim design of LCD TVs only allowing small speakers to be fitted, so is probably on par with most other LCD TVs. The TV has component connectors that will allow easy connection to a Home Theatre amplifier / music system if you wanted better sound, else you could easily plug bass enhanced computer speakers into the headphone jack if you wanted.

Most LCD TV sets at this price point look cheaply made, however the Daewoo has a quality look with subtle detailing and a two-colour (silver & dark grey) casing. The unit can be removed from the supplied stand and wall mounted if required (mounting kit is optional purchase, but it uses standardised LCD screen fixings - available from £15.)

Having looked at various similar TVs in the shops, there are slightly better quality wide-screen LCD TVs from Sony - if your are happy paying 3-4 times the price of the Daewoo.

At £200 this unit it is well worth the money as either a TV or PC monitor alone - as a dual-purpose unit it is a fantastic buy.
