Sony KDL-52W4000
By Staff writers
Review summary: The Sony bandwagon rolls on; this is another simple to use set that produces brilliant big-screen images
Verdict: Switch on and you're greeted by the PlayStation 3 style menu system, which is big, bold and clear. We fire-up the auto set-up, run through our own THX Optimizer picture settings, and then sit back ready to enjoy the show

Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000
By Ian Morris
Review summary: The Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 is a 40-inch 1080p LCD stuffed to the brim with picture processing and features designed to make your viewing experience better. A new interface is designed to make setting the TV up and using it much easier, and there's an ...
Pros: Picture and sound quality ; ease of use ; menu system
Cons: Design is rather random ; could have more HDMI inputs at the back ; backlight is too bright
Verdict: A great TV from Sony. We wouldn't say it's the best-looking piece of kit we've ever seen, but the picture is brilliant and the sound is impressive too

Sony Bravia KDL52W4000
By Campbell Simpson
Review summary: THIS LCD stumbles on standard-definition content but its high-definition picture quality is great.
Pros: Vibrant, clear picture, handles 1080p content brilliantly
Cons: Standard-definition video looks blurred and interpolated, no 100Hz support
Verdict: It stumbles on standard-definition content and doesn't support 100Hz picture technology, but Sony's 52" W series LCD is hard to fault in high-definition picture quality tests.

Sony KDL-40W4000
By Adam Homans (13/01/2009)
- Pros: Great picture and sound and easy to use.
- Cons: The 4000 series is not 100Hz but the 4500 series is.
Firstly a warning. This TV isnt 100Hz. But that shouldnt stop you from considering it. It can be had for less thn £800 now and that is great for a TV that packs such a punch. Great picture, the freeview picture can sometimes look less than great but not any worse than most, HD sources are amazing with great detail in whites and blacks to rival plasma TVs. The sound is clear and strong (where many ...

- Pros: Picture and sound! 40" size looks massive in the room cmpared to store
- Cons: they will bring out something better next year for the same price. wtf
Exelent TV. Had to choose between Samsung LE40A656, Samsung LE40A686M1, Samsung LE40A558 and Sony KDL 40W4000, Sony KDL 40V4000. Got Sony 40w4000 which was on a par with the Samsung LE40A656 but better. Cos of the matt panel (no distracting reflections) and relatively conservative looks which won't go out of fashion unlike samsungs hipe plasticky-reddish design. Basically Sony is a Mercedes an...
