      Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte Review

Review summary: The Carbon Arte is the third member of Nokia's Arte premium phone collection and the most expensive yet.…

Pros: Expertly built, stylish design, fluid slider and internal memory hike

Cons: Still overpriced, with limited memory and only a slight feature upgrade

Verdict: The most stylish and well built Arte phone, and one of the more feature rich premium phones. But not enough bang for the bucks.

Nokia 8800 Gold Arte: Born with a silver spoon

      By GSMArena team

Review summary: How many phones can you name that would have made sense centuries back? Here's one: the Nokia 8800 Gold Arte. No, we're not talking medieval calling and texting, we're talking gold and leather. Okay, it may not be solid gold...

Pros: 18 carat gold-plated body ; Genuine white leather padding ; 2" 16M-color OLED display of QVGA resolution ; 3G support ; 3 megapixel autofocus camera ; Full-house retail package with a Bluetooth headset and desk stand ; Decent battery life ; Turn-to ...

Cons: Smallish display with poor sunlight legibility ; Tri-band only ; No memory expansion ; Costs an arm and a leg ; Below-par camera performance ; No video calls ; No Smart dialing ; No office document viewer ; No Java multi-tasking

Verdict: Okay, it may not be solid gold, but it's the next best thing - the Arte is gold plated alright, but it sure looks - better yet, glitters - the part. Gold does not react with air and moisture so even after thousands of years gold artifacts do not loose ...

    Foneplanet.com

Nokia 8800 By Henry Makansi (19/09/2006)
    • Pros: My general impression of the phone is fine.
    • Cons: Provider is the issue

I paid Foneplanet.com £400 for what was a second hand Nokia 8800. The phone which was professed to be new had clearly been used in that it still had text messages and pictures in its memory from the previous owner, was scratched and only included one damaged battery. When I called to complain, the level of service was as disappointing, call centre operatives did not return calls, lied about their ... Read Full Review »

    It's not special enough

    Nokia 8800 By Anonymous (25/04/2006)
    • Pros: Nokia ease of use
    • Cons: Heavily overpriced, low specification

The 8800 is the natural successor to up-scale Nokia's 8910i, but it doesn't quite hit the mark. To justify the 8800's huge price Nokia has billed this phone as something very fashionable and special, but it isn't. It's a phone worth £200 dressed up in marketing clothing and is being sold for £500-600. For this price-tag the 8800 has a surprisingly low-spec 0.5 megapixel camera ... Read Full Review »

    Nokia 8800

Nokia 8800 By Jon Anderson (09/01/2006)
    • Pros: Stylish, easy to use phone
    • Cons: Battery life

Great phone in almost all areas. Camera, sound quality, features, etc all excellent. The only thing that lets this phone down is its battery life. You get a spare bettery with it when you buy it which you find you need to have constantly on charge ready to swap out with the one you are using! with average use your lucky if you get much more than 36 hours out of it, and you also find the battery po...
