      Nokia N96 smartphone

      Review summary: Greatly improved battery life but Symbian flagship upgrade still needs to do more with the browser

      Pros: BBC iPlayer support ; lots of add-ons ; better battery life than N95

      Cons: Keypad cramped and too smooth ; browsing experience lags behind competition

      Verdict: Good performer with lots of features, but not a compelling upgrade

      Nokia N96 (unlocked)

      Pros: The Nokia N96 features 16GB of storage and advanced multimedia features, including a 5-megapixel camera. The smartphone also has integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support

      Cons: The N96 froze on a couple of occasions and can sometimes be sluggish. Nokia's Ovi services aren't fully activated in North America, so you can't take advantage of those extra capabilities. It's also expensive

      Verdict: Though the Nokia N96 is a powerful all-in-one smartphone with an impressive amount of user storage, it's not a significant upgrade to the N95 and is outdone by new devices coming to market, including the Nokia N97.

      Review summary: This is a good phone, which a year ago would have been fantastic. The problem for Nokia, is the bar has been set so high by their own past devices, they now find themselves struggling to keep up momentum
