      Samsung Omnia

      By Bonnie Cha

Pros: The Samsung Omnia features a nice touch screen and customizable interface that makes the Windows Mobile smartphone easier to use. It also has a 5-megapixel camera and a boatload of other multimedia features.

Cons: You can't add additional widgets to the TouchWiz interface, and there are some nagging design quirks. The unlocked version does not offer U.S. 3G support, and it's expensive.

Verdict: While there are some design quirks, and we're still waiting for a U.S. release, the Samsung Omnia promises to be a solid alternative to the Apple iPhone.

      Samsung i900 Omnia

Review summary: Using Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the Omnia measures 112x56x12.5mm. It has a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen, embedded GPS, Push email, support for Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi, and has an memory expandable up to 16GB via microSDHC card. There's also a five ...

Pros: Sure, the iPhone is good at consuming media and browsing the web, but what if you actually need to get stuff done? The Omnia has a large 3.2-inch touchscreen, friendly ‘widget' icons and easy messaging but scratch the cartoony surface and you'll find ...

Cons: Do we really need to tell you that the Omnia doesn't look or handle like an Apple? The case is plastic, as is the resistive touchscreen – where haptic buzzing is no substitute for the iPhone's gliding multi-touch. You'll need the stylus when hacking ...

Verdict: Windows is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes wrapped in Samsung's top-notch Omnia. High-speed browsing, business smarts and super snapping might not quite make an iPhone killer, but Samsung has certainly inflicted a nasty flesh wound.

      Samsung Omnia SGH-i900

      By Jamie Lendino

Review summary: Incomprehensible, buggy software design undermines the Omnia i900, an otherwise very well-specified iPhone competitor.

      Samsung Omnia SGH-i900

      By Jamie Lendino

Review summary: The high-end Samsung Omnia's whole is decidedly less than the sum of its parts, with poor software design and a high price overshadowing its many positive attributes.

Pros: Solid, feature-rich 5-megapixel camera. Good Web browser. Stellar battery life. DivX support.

Cons: Very expensive. No 3G. Plenty of bugs and interface inconsistencies. No place to put the stylusand you'll need one.
