      Apple's third-gen iPod nano

      By Daniel Eran Dilger

Review summary: The new third generation Nano has the same small and ultra thin form factor as previous Nanos and similarly occupies the same sports-centric product position in the Apple's iPod line. However, it adds full video iPod features on a screen smaller than ...

Pros: Amazingly thin and light form factor with very solid construction ; Very high quality, bright, scratch resistant screen ; New photo and video playback features and game playing ; New animated menus, with new and expanded mini-apps and search features ...

Cons: No games available for purchase yet ; incompatible with existing 5G iPod games ; iPod-style polished metal back will scuff up quickly ; Minor software display glitches need to be ironed out

Verdict: Apple could have sold a record number of iPods this winter with just a simple refresh and some new colors, but instead, it's aggressively moving the target for its competitors and making it hard for its customers to resist buying new gear. The new ...

      Apple iPod Nano (third generation)

      By MP3.com Staff

Pros: The third-generation iPod Nano offers crisp, bright video playback, an exceptionally thin all-metal body, above-average battery life, built-in games, and an advanced user interface.

Cons: We're not crazy about the wider body, the smaller scroll wheel, the lack of video output, and the average-sounding audio quality.

Verdict: The shape may have changed, but Apple's relentless attention to detail remains. The third generation of the iPod Nano provides loads of entertainment for a down-to-earth price.

      Award: Editor's Choice!

Review summary: Since the iPod nano's inception, the only thing it ever really lacked was videosomething that didn't mesh with the iTunes Store's commitment to TV shows and film downloads. Sporting a bright, two-inch widescreen that shows video in the highest pixel ...

Pros: Widescreen video. New excellent user interface. Great new graphics. Extremely thin. Good (rated) battery life

Cons: Cover Flow loses some of its appeal without a touchscreen. Crappy earbuds ; Watch the iPod Nano (3rd Gen) Video Review

Verdict: Apple's new video iPod nano is wider than the old version, yet the player remains very thin and sleek, with an excellent widescreen display, a beautiful interface, and (finally) video.
