      Review summary: If you're looking for a good-size TV with excellent Freeview and high-definition performance, the 42-inch Hitachi P42T01 plasma may well be of serious interest to you. It has some curious connectivity and below-par sound, but it's excellent value

      Pros: Picture quality ; motorised base ; attractive design ; sturdy build quality

      Cons: Sound quality ; connectivity

      Verdict: The Hitachi P42T01 is a well-styled TV with good picture quality, but it's let down by poor sound and annoying connectivity choices. It's still worthy of attention, however, especially for its above-average Freeview performance
