      Pros: Accepts 1080p feeds, Good hi-def performance , The price

      Cons: Ropey Freeview performance , Mediocre audio , Disappointing black levels

      Verdict: Considering the low price tag, connectivity also impresses. There are two HDMI inputs for rigging up your hi-def AV kit, two Scarts, component video input, an RGB PC VGA input for using this screen as a computer monitor, and, tellingly, a CI slot

      Review summary: LG is a brand desperate to improve its image. Having seen chief rival Samsung elevate itself to premium status through consistently good design and adventurous technology, it clearly thinks a copycat strategy will pay dividends

      Pros: Attractive price, Good looking, Good connections

      Cons: Awful presets, Standard-def images fail to impress, Average audio

      Verdict: Its the cheapest brand name 42-inch plasma out there, but you'll need to invest in pricey HD sources to get the best from it
