      Loewe Modus L 42

      Review summary: Given the price-cutting carnage currently dominating the flat TV world, Loewe has done a startlingly good job of maintaining its status as a 'premium' brand. But today it seems even Loewe wants a slice of the 'mainstream' action...

      Verdict: At first we admit we were genuinely intrigued by the idea of Loewe launching a 42in TV at a truly mainstream price. But as our tests conclude, we have to say that as marketing experiments go, the Modus L 42 isn't especially a successful one

      Loewe Modus L 42

      Review summary: I could have sworn Loewe said it wasn't going to sell any more plasma TVs. I guess I must have dreamt it. Clearly the brand can see a demand for this type of glass. Although perhaps not quite as dramatically well-built and stylishly chic.

      Pros: Stylish, Good sound, Impressive blacks

      Cons: Poor standard-def performance

      Verdict: There's not enough in the picture department to persuade me that the Modus L 42 has an edge
