Sony RDR-HXD870 -

Had trouble setting this equipment up because of Sky connections. I do not use Dgital as reception is poor but this Recorder is probaly ideal if you do use it. The instructions whilst comrehensive are a nightmare to follow at times especially when you have to make choices about channels and God knows what. Sky is not mentioned but Pay TV is and that took me some time realise that was the route to use. Using an analogue aerial for the terrestial with this causes problems believe me and not for the faint hearted.
After getting the set up complete and trying the recording it was quite straightforward. But it will not play a DVD recorded from my sons recorder and just says Can't play.
So far it will not let me play my jpeg photos I have on CDs and Dvds and will refer you to the Play section where you flounder about so I am really fed up at this time. It did let me play a holiday DVD taken with a Sony cam coder and so it should. I wish now I had gone for a simple recorder as so far I have spent at least 4 hours tryng to get this thing going. Don't ring Sony help as they will lead you on a wild goose chase and you end up with spaghetti wiring and nothing working. Thats it I may bundle it up and give it to someone I don't like as an Xmas present.
