The impressive features and trendy looks made me buy this top of the line model. I used it for music as well as a portable hard drive. I also bought the camera connector so that I could download photos straight from my Canon digital to my iPod (no need for huge memory cards!)
But after 5 months I was having trouble and having to reboot. After 8 months, my iPod was totally seized. I'd taken care of it like a baby. It had never been dropped and I've the clean corners to prove it!
Unfortunately, claiming under warranty to Apple was a long, exhaustive and frustrating process.
Google "Apple Australia Service" and read what u find for yourself.
The colour screen is far too small to properly view photos. And the LCD lacks the colours to do justice to photo pics.
For photo storage use, its fine though downloading straight from camera to iPod took a LONG time and heavily sapped battery life.
Using it as an external hard drive was interesting. Usually it worked, but sometimes it didnt for no apparent reason. Even then, it always took long for a PC to recognise and install it as an external drive.
For this price, you would've expected Apple to include an FM radio tuner and voice recorder like some of its competitors do. Alas, none here.
Yes its sexy, trendy and plays music superbly. But save your money for something with a bigger & more colourful screen and inbuilt features. Its also a bit slow & unreliable to be continually used as an external hard drive.
Worst of all, if something is wrong with your iPod, you wont get any help from the retailer and Apple will make u jump through so many hoops you'd wish you never bought one.
