I was persuaded to buy a satnav by my Garage which could not fathom out how to repair an electronic speedo on my old 'boys' toy' car. I wanted something fairly basic with an MPH function but which was reliable in every sense. Found that Curry's web site was the cheapest place to buy - HINT: but you can buy it for that lower price in store if you tell the sales staff that you know about it.
I've had the thing for a couple of months and am very impressed. Easy to see, even with my failing near sight; clear instructions ... mostly. Having tested it on routes which I know, it has thrown up some anomolies, such as 'turn right' when on a motorway and wanting to join another crossing motorway! Could have meant an expensive trip into the armco! Also having delivered me to my destination via one route (the one I would have selected anyway) it tried to bring me back by a different route. Why?
Otherwise I have found it a very useful tool. Set-up was easy, but not by following the instructions in the box - which would not work! I found a newer version of Tom Tom home somewhere else on the website and voila - we had liftoff. I managed to download a new voice for it (John Cleese - highly recommended as very amusing) but although it would let me download the trafficmaster service, it warned me that this would not work on my machine. Annoying.
Overall I am very pleased with the machine and use it in my everyday car now, as well as my boys' toy. It has got me easily to a couple of places I just know I would have had great difficulty finding using my (large print) map..
